Moparts and I ended up building a small body HEI. I bought an MSD pickup through Summit, but Mo showed me an OEM Chrysler HEI pickup on his shelf that looked exactly the same as the MSD unit, except for the ends on the wires...but was a BUNCH cheaper. And I *believe* it was a Chrysler reluctor wheel we used as well. Mill down the shaft, epoxy & roll pin the reluctor on, then plug it into an MSD. Another solution is to simply use your points to fire an MSD box, making the points your "trigger" while the MSD box still provides the fire...your points would basically be just along for the ride, but the MSD is still providing the spark to your coil.
There's a few ways to do it, but I'm gun-shy of any under cap conversions now. |
