The Blue Horizontal GM Cerification Drivers Door Label became mandatory on ALL GM cars starting with the 1970 production year starting in August 1969.
It showed VIN# & Month/Year assembled. |

So does that mean that late 69 Camaros would have had the tag?

Yes, also the door on the later cars that got the sticker is formed slightly different. It's real obvious when you see an early and a late door side by side.

If the Aug '69 and later Camaro's received the decal, what did the earlier models have (late '68, early '69)?

The GM Cars built before the 1970 model year recieved a Blue Foil GM 2"square decal on the Drivers door.It did not have date or Cars VIN# on it.I am not sure how early this started, but believe it was not used after the New 1970 VIN# & Date label came out.

My 69 Z - late built car (4th week of Oct 1969) has the original door decal installed and the door has
the top and bottom indentations to position the sticker. I believe the 69 camaro assembly manual has this added and the date this change went into production. Ed Montini
