VIN digits are grouped together tightly and the 8's have a flat top. I'd have to see a pic, but nothing sounds wrong with the VIN plate.
Nothing looks wrong with the #'s, also has a POP imprint on the inspection sheet.
Wonder if some things were changed after Tinnell restored it, he normally does nice work.
