My 1111437 dist has a 2 piece shield that covers the points, is this what you call RFI shield. Is it rare? My 1111499 dist on my camaro doesn't have one. Should it?

That distributor came with that shield and it is very rare to see one still on a distributor. If it went through one points change, it was generally tossed. You are lucky to have yours. I do not believe the 499 distributor ever came with it but I may be incorrect.

I have a few of the Delco Remy dist caps and notice some have different size font of the printed words and one has copper contacts vs alu. Also I have read that some do not have the "R" on them.

From my understanding, the difference between the copper and aluminum contacts are steel body cars vs Corvettes. Also there is a letter difference in the 'D' 308 number. My info is somewhere at home.

You are correct there Joe...I have seen DELCO REMY PATENT PENDING caps....DELCO REMY PATENT PENDING R caps, and then there is of course the DELCO REMY PATENT PENDING followed by the actual Patent #. As it turns out, that is what my Fact of the week/month is right now...on my web page...with a very nice photo showing the non "R" cap.

That's what 39 hours of no sleep and a 14 hour drive will do to you. I felt worse that I let my customer down. That 10 points hurt!
