The first COPO's were ordered in late '68, built in late Jan. & early Feb. of '69, and were X66's. The X11's were a little later in '69.

I was surfing E-Bay, and this car came up recently. It has the Silver Grill, currently running a small block, has 12-bolt rear, no fender emblems, but the vin indicates an 8-Cyl, etc. It just really looks like a possible COPO. I will e-mail the seller and try to get more information. Thanks for your responses.

The first COPO Camaros, which were Yenkos had the X66 Big Block Designation but I have never seen an X66 COPO non Yenko Camaro, other than the one advertised in Canada which has been discussed as a rebodied car.

Okay, here is the trim tag information from the car:
ST 69 12437 NOR124523 BDY TR 727 55 50 PNT 09C X-11 I show this as a base coupe with Turquoise Paint, Dark Blue Top, Ivory/Black interior, built third week of September. I have some pictures of the engine bay, and there is a small block hearter cover in the car. I guess my hopes were for not, but it sure looked like a possibility. Any chance it might still be a COPO? I will try to get more information to see what other clues may exist. Thanks. |

Azure turquoise with a dark blue top??? I would like to see a picture of that! From the cowl tag how did you decode it as a base coupe? X11 decodes as non BB, non Z28 but includes SS350.

I had the seller do a little investigating for me. It is a drum brake car, small block heater core, no plate on the frame rail, etc. He was real nice about checking on things for me. The car is currently painted yellow.
