Jon, those 80 Malibu's with the 305 & 4spd are as rare now as they were then. There was only one sold out of the local three dealers here in 1980 and it was a white car w/blk bucket seat interior. My dad ordered the car new for a customer and then took it back in on trade in 1983. He sold it to a freind of ours that kept it until about 1993. The guy that bought it screwed the car up by putting a strong 350 in it (the car was very low mileage when he did this) and removed the a/c. He sold it a few years ago and it went somewhere out of state.

There is another rare Malibu, the 80-81 police pursuit cars with the 350. All were 4 door base Malibus with all vinyl interior, no carpet, TH350 trans, a/c, ps, F41 suspensions, rally wheels with larger than stock tires (not sure on size), hd cooling, a few other odds & ends. The Bryson City Police Dept. ordered 7 of them new from Charles West Chevrolet in 1980 and were in service for years. Those cars would just about outrun anything being made at that time. The mayor of that town even bought one for his personal daily driver!
Those 78-81 Malibus are very popular around here, a couple even have 454 crate motors in them.....................RatPack.................. .......
