We have a member on here,Belair62,who owns a 1969 Black COPO Chevelle. It was made at the Fremont,CA. Plant, and sold new at Jack head Chevrolet in Alhambra,CA.
I know you are asking about Calif. built COPO Camaros, but I am not aware of any built there.
Is anyone else?

I couldnÄt find it right now, but I remember reading an article about C.K. Spurlock of Hendersonville, Tennessee. I believe it was called "The bowtie baron". There were pictures of a burnished brown COPO 9561, and they stated that it was one of very few built at the Van Nuys plant. Am I wrong or ?? I will keep on digging !

Found it at last! Chevrolet high performance,July 1988. I quote,"Adding to it`s value is the fact that this car is one of about six COPOÄs built at the GM plant in Van Nuys, California. The car did have two previous owners, but C.K. managed to get all the original records, including the sales agreement and the build sheet". It says that itÄs a matching # car that underwent a total restoration. A picture of it shows that itÄs equipped with endura-bumper, D80-spoilers and dog-dish hubcaps. Under the picture it says,"It came off the assembly line without a heater or radio", end of quote. Pretty special, donÄt you think !!

If in fact without a heater that tells me it was going to Hawaii or outside the rest of the USA. Possible even to Canada but no heater for there tells me someone ordered it to race

Without a heater throws up red flags for me. Option was not available in the continental US.
Still waiting to find an real LA COPO. Every one so far has been a clone.

The west coast was majorly out of the COPO loop. Any cars they did get would have been from Norwood.
