I have never seen a letter code on a tranny tag. Only numbers...BKH

If memory serves me correctly, almost all tags I have seen had letters on them as well. My M-22 (Chevelle) has 3978766 WO on it. Other tags that I have seen were very similar. I guess it's time to check with some of the tranny guru's.

SS427---f.y.i. the 2 digit letter code started in the 1970 model year, hope this helps--crash

Crash, thanks for clearing that up. I did not realize that started in '70. I was thinking it started in '69. Sorry for the misinformation.
