Yeah, that's one of the "quirks" of this board. Somewhere when I was hacking it to death, some code must have gotten corrupted, and it has caused this whole email/password thing. But, like the thread in the link above states, this software is VERY secure (the updates to v. 5.43d and 2000 take care of most of the security problems), and unless someone can get your email, then your info is secure.
