It is commonly believed that the '70 Yenko Novas did not come with trim rings. This is not to say that some of the demo cars didn't get them, because they seemed to have more options than the non-demo cars.

These cars came from GM with the painted 14x7 'XT' coded wheels, and a 'dog cap' hubcap. Yenko changed 4, (not 5, the spare is still an 'XT'), of the wheels to a Magnum 500 Custom version, (not the Deluxe-they had the chrome spoke overlays). Yenko reinstalled the Uniroyal Tiger Paw white-wall tires onto the Magnum rims.

Yenko brochures do not say anything about the trim rings, and no original owners ever remember having them on their cars. This is probably because Yenko did not purchase the wheels from GM, he bought them right from Kelsey-Hayes/Motorwheel and did not want to incur the extra expense of the rings.

The 'Y' centercap also came from Motorwheel, and is actually just a decal that covers the original 'Magnum 500' plastic insert, they do not say 'SS' underneath.

FYI;
I should correct my prior post, Yenko did not actually change the wheels - he subcontracted that out to a tire shop that was across the street from the dealership. The tire shop is now under new owners, and they rent the back half of the original Yenko dealership. Their office is Don's old Dyno Room!!

Marlin, Did the Deuce use any SS Nova parts?
The grill looks like it has the silver grid patern like a non SS Nova.

The '70 Yenko Nova did not use any Super Sport parts. They had a plain grille, hood, and taillight panel, as well as a plain steering wheel. These are generally the only parts standard on an SS Nova.

SS Novas did not have buckets, tach dash, clock, console, custom interior, rear sway bars, ect. as standard equipment. The only questionable item would be the F41 package. The '70 Yenko Novas received the rear sway bar as part of the F41 package, but this was not standard on the Super Sports. The literature that I have says that the SS option was required to get the F41 package, but that has not been verified. Either way, the Yenkos received the F41 as part of the COPO 9737 option, (not an SS option), which had a different recipe for '70 vs. '68 & '69, (like 15 inch rallye's for eg.).

The Yenko Novas were not ordered with the 300HP 350 engine as some people have published. This would generally require the SS package, although I have met some who claim they have a 300HP non-SS Nova. The Yenkos were ordered with the L65, 265HP 350 engine - which was a non-SS engine.

What about the Gobi Beige Deuce with all the style trim from new. Is that the only known screw up Deuce...

At this time, that is the only known deuce that came with the exterior decor package and window moldings, neither of these are specific to an SS though. This car appears to be a factory mixup. It was initially thought that during the course of a 'modified' restoration by a prior owner, these options were added to this car. However, after receiving a photo from the original owner while the car was still Gobi, the options and emblem placement were evident.

A second note, one original owner deuce in NH has a FG, A/T, P/S, car that came with an SS tail panel, only. It is believed that the car was probably damaged on the lot, and it was cheaper to slap on the SS panel than it was to repair it.

emblem placement on the 70 novas?
did some of the early cars have
them placed above like some of
the early camaros?it seems anything
is possible ,just as the placement of
stripes probably varied from car to car!
