A vinyl top will hide a lot of imperfections, but the metal is still going to need to be fairly close.
As for material, I WAS going to say you may well only find it at SMS in Oregon, but after going to their web page to get their address for you, I can't suggest you contact them. Most all feedback for them anymore is "stay away". And their BBB report is quite bad too. You may need to get past wanting the mod top material and settle for original appearing fabric. Good Luck with other suppliers, you never know what's out there until you ask.
