Where the shifter is located, I would guess a New Process tranny. Never seen anything but a "granny gear" tranny in one of these. Would like to know which NP tranny this has (if that is in fact what it is).
Can't find any info on M28. Guessing it is a NP435 with a 4.56 first gear. Why would that be considered "close ratio"? Because in the Ford truck, the NP 435 has a 6.68 first gear!!!!! Still, a very cool truck. And if it DOES have a 4.56 first gear, you could put in a 2.73 rear axle (if you can find one) and drive it like an OD tranny.
