A buddy of mine owns one, he owned it since the mid 70s but did what we all did with cars back then, ..cut it up, threw away lots of replaced parts, drag raced it, etc....not knowing how rare and valuable it was.
Now it's 90% restored, painted at my shop, and one of the few tri-color examples known to have been made and to have survived. Red exterior, white interior, black vinyl top. |

The car in the video has been known about for many years. I talked to the owner likely 10 years or more ago about this car. Very cool situation and story none the less.

The idea that two cars were crashed during testing raised my eyebrows. It is very unusual, and therefore a big deal (with lots of management attention and policy discussion and personnel changes) to crash one car during testing. Two? That's virtually unheard of. I have no problem believing that he was racing and exchanging technical info and tips with the manufacturer, as that is essentially what my dad did with first Ford Motor Company and then Pontiac. Similar to the Doug Nash discussion from just the other day (he started as an hourly employee at Ford). K

Yeah I just happened on this, thought it was cool.
Is there anything happening with the wrecked one that was shown at MCACN? |
