Actually, Steven had NOT seen the car in person. He was able to connect with the owner, (who coincidentally IS still alive) and met with him several times. He was not able to put a deal together.

Steven believed the car was stashed in a dilapidated garage behind a house in a rather rough area of Detroit under the Ambassador bridge. Many years ago on one of his visits, we went on an adventure, (and believe me, that location did make it an adventure!) where he showed me where he believed it was.

In reality, the car was never there. It was at the owners home, which was about ten minutes from where I live in a suburban neighborhood. The pictures that surfaced showing the car being loaded onto a flat bed is where the car had been stored from 1976 until March of 2022.

More of the discovery and how it ended up at the upcoming Mecum auction next month will be shared when the time is right.
