I was reading conflicting info on the www. Some referenced the 427 heads as having the larger valves, while the 396 got the smaller ones. My heads are on the block and I haven't actually checked them, but I will guess they are the smaller valves.

The low horse 396 and 427 motors both used the same heads...the hi-perf versions had heads with larger valves and different ports/chambers.

Lots of incorrect info on the web...
