The Cobra was Ford's attemp to duplicate what Plymouth did with the 1968 Road Ruuner. Keep it simple - keep it cheap. But the Cobra did not have the success that the Road Runner had.
Cobra 2-door hardtop - 3,786 Cobra 2-door sportsroof - 11,099 In 1968 Plymouth sold 45,000 Road Runners. Maybe the Beep Beep horn was the magic sales item. Or maybe getting to market first may have helped.
