I would say start by putting the fitting in the deep freeze for 3 or 4 hours then heat the manifold up until water bubbles off. Put some light lube on the fitting and grab the fitting with a pair of vice grips with a light touch. Protect the fitting from the vice grips with some old gasket material. wiggle the fitting down, have a small block of wood and a hammer handy in case you have to gently tap it down
