RG is the chalk marking read upside down that often appears on the right and left side fender extensions to denote Rally Sport Z/28

My inner fenders were both marked with an X. Maybe this was needed because of the front Z/28 emblem holes ?

The thinking was that the code marked on the fender extensions correlated to the code in box #103 FENDER PIERCING on the BBC. Thus far, not borne out. BBC copy for a Norwood Z/28-RS box #103 is marked YB.. Box #104 EMB. is marked G. Another Z/28 is YA G. We would need many Z/28 BBCs to sort this out. Not going to happen.

Like a check mark. When working on the assembly line it can be difficult to remember where you are at, particularly if the line is moving slowly, stopping/starting, or before and after breaks. K

Is chalk used or a wax crayon?

G is the emblem code for Z28. R is RS. 6 is 396. (wonder if that's actually an E) 427 = no holes.
