I started this thread indicating what area the tags would be and had a banner and table setup on Friday and Saturday. I met some new faces and passed out tags. I shamed Mitch into helping and had a nice chat. It's pretty hectic for me so I don't have much downtime at the show. I wonder if we could stick the name tags on lanyard/ show ticket. I can get lanyards and name tags made if that helps, and will provide them next year. Just contact me with your ideas and lets get it done!!!!

It was great to see old friends from across the country again, but didn't see many SYC tags. Did meet Tim (napa68), Chad (carnutforlife), the Dykstra Bros and Bill (oldredalert). Your Suburban is killer Bill!! Apologies is I've forgotten anyone. Bill W |

Same here, I had the sticker on my MCACN lanyard but had hoped to meet more members than I did. I had posted on another thread for everyone to meet at my car at 2pm Saturday. A few guys (Freddie, Bentley) showed up which was great. IMO a designated meeting place/time along with name tags would be the best if well-advertised before-hand. Once you get roaming around at that show, you get engrossed in the cars, the last thing you're looking at is name tags.

And I lost track of time and was probably in the cafe getting food about then. After that, I went back to the Hyatt and got my assigned room and checked it out...for 2 hours on the bed. I was a zombie by then from only having about 3 hours of sleep since 7am Friday. I need to plan better for next year and get more rest. Forgetting to put the SD card in the camera Friday night before I left home was a BIG disappointment. We should be able to work out a better plan for meeting and greeting in the next 8-10 months too. Maybe I should sign on as a volunteer and be there to help set up Thursday and Friday. That would put me in a position to meet people. Does that come with a room Bob/Ian ... ![]()

I will admit to being a retard; never saw that thread. In my (weak) defense, the last two months have been a nightmare in my world.
MCACN was a great diversion for me. Give me a nudge next year Steve. I will be on board.

Yes, we were talking with him at the name tag table and I realized who he was after he put his tag on. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to bow. Wow, he is a well respected Camaro guy.

My father and I were able to attend and had an amazing time, thanks to all who make this show happen and all who brought their cars!
I'm not sure if anyone we met were part of this forum, I never bothered to ask. We talked quite awhile with the AAR & T/A owners (still trying to see if my father's 426 hemi swapped AAR is still around somewhere) as well as the owner of the beautiful red '70 L78 Camaro. We're contemplating submitting my father's newly finished '72 Heavy Chevy 402 for submission next year. It takes a lot of logistics to get to and from the show and he's still finalizing the finishing touches on the car. We were hoping to see a bit more in the 1971 invitational (surprised we didn't see any '71 SS454 cars!) but hopefully his car could be considered for the 1972 invitational next year.

I was glad to meet the guys I did, including Charley.
I made my own lanyard. Someone posted an image of the name tag on the forum. I just printed a couple off (one for each side of the clear lanyard I had) and wore it all day. It was a great way to introduce myself to other forum members, and a couple other car owners asked me about it. I tried to spread the word as best I could. |
