That is an anomaly to only have so little spatter in the trunk. Having worked an assembly line, there is only a given amount of time the vehicle is in your "station" to get everything you are assigned done. Either the spray gun ran out of spatter, and there wasn't time to get it spraying after a drum change or the installer ran out of time.
