Buy it.
Yes, even if you bought it and just sat on it for a while as you gathered parts it would be a wonderful family investment. Maybe your kids/grandkids would like to have it some day. I have two of my grandparents cars (75 Firebird and 71 Lincoln) and it is really cool to have my kids claim at a show that that car in front of them belonged to their great-grandparent. (whereas my great grandparents' car was a donkey cart back in Russia)
