Hi Chuck,
279 LOW note or 280 HIGH note is the last 3 numbers of a full part number used for a few years for Chevelle.
If you go to the other Ear (Other Side) remove the paint and you should see a date code there for Example 0B1 would be (1970 February 1st week).
