That's western Suffolk County. The street action was Deer Park Ave during that era. Cars would gather at Jack in the Box in Commack and drive down to Deer Park for matchups. Federal buildings didn't pop up in Central Islip until mid to late 90's. Islip Speedway was south of Central Islip in Islip. Mostly figure 8 but had 1/8 mile track. Closed in '84. GotGrunt is right. Check out that Rt 231 Facebook page. 231 is the route number for Deer Park Ave. Different names, same road mostly.
