Difference between "New Posts" and "Today's Posts"

Home: Goto Homepage.
Subscribed: See all threads you’ve posted in or started.
Today's Posts: Posts made today. Bold = unread.
New Posts: Shows all unread posts since last visit.
New Thread: Newest threads by creation time.

Right, I understood that if you posted it, your machine believes you've seen it and as such, it doesn't show up under "new posts" for you until someone else replies...

"Today's posts" is just that without regard for poster (you or not)...
