That's a throwback to the 'underhood detailing' that was done about 35 - 40 yrs ago, which consisted of steam cleaning everything underhood and then spraying it all with a high gloss clear spray
That car is Mercury's equivalent of the Ford Galaxie '7 Litre' model. Love the head of Mercury on the WS washer fluid container You're right, Tony, can't be many around.

What a cool car! I love the factory A/C dash.
I pulled a 65 hardtop Marauder out of the junk yard almost 20 years ago and the frame was so rusted out I had to buy a less rusted out frame from the car next to it and then repair it. So many of those 65-66 Ford Merc frames I found rusted out really bad. |

The a/c vents blend into the dash so well they're almost imperceptible.
