they classified the cars by weight/horsepower so the car can go up or down a class depending on the weight and the NHRA-factored horsepower changed over the years so you will see them running in different classes

looking at old pictures for examples ,

the 1967 Jenkin's L78 Camaro ran in SS/C

the Strickler 1968 Z/28 ran in SS/E or SS/F
