Thanks Mark. No, the 408 was a dog compared to the 454. It was just a .030" over 402. The 408 actually ran really well, but it didn't have much of a cam and the 402 just can't compare to a 454. The 454 torque is so much better. I was driving it really easy, but even then when I was in 4th gear driving between 55 and 65 (2,500-3,000) you could really feel the power pull. I'm only running 3.31 gears too.
One thing is for sure. Bye, bye 800 rpm idle!
