I would suggest always run separate lines. With single lines if you make a sharp turn on a hillside the shock with the least amount of weight on it will fill with air, raise that side of the car and the other side with all the weight will go near flat. Similar to a long balloon you pinch

Also like brakes if one line gets a hole you won't lose both quarter panels if the tires are close or stick out.
