Very good to know. Apparently the brackets I have (3988971 & 3941114) pre date your brackets. The brackets on my El Camino (Dec. 67 for 68 model year) looked similar, but interfered with an 8 inch damper before I modded. the lower.

Of topic I know, but WHY IN THE WORLD, when GM could have used the same brackets for two applications, did they use two?????? Had to increase production costs. Just like first gen camaros with different heater cores for big block / small block. How stupid. Once they decided to install big blocks, they could have easily used the "big block" designed heater core in both applications, and not had to worry about different part numbers, not only for the heater core, but for the cover. Assinine. On top of everything else, the big block heater core is easier to swap out. No logical reason whatsoever.

Just to confirm; that is an 8 inch balancer, correct?

Thanks guys for the input. Trying to solve the mystery.

Anyone out there have a 65 66 L-79 car with PS? Guessing they are not very commong.

Oklahoma Natural Gas actually ordered something like 17 Nova Station wagons in 66 or 67 WITH THE L79, believe it or not. I am sure it was the result of some smart a$$ in the purchasing dept. Have no idea if they had PS, but believe all were ordered identically. So, if one did, all did. Be nice to find someone that owns one of those today. I believe a few exist.

Yes, L79 with 8" balancer.

I didn't find your part #s in my '67 book, but the 3858872 is listed only for small block Chevelle, not Chevy II or Camaro.
