It never ends..........When I built the car originally, it had a 10 bolt in it.........so.....I looked around and bought a 12 housing off eBay........I took it over to Chassis Service in Beach Park and told Jimmy to go thru it and put in everything new.......Bearing, axles, Posi, Ring and Pinion, etc........So....when I picked it up I remember Jimmy saying something about the large axle bearings..........I didn't pay much attention because everything fit and it didn't matter at the time.........

So........Today the "Real" rear brake system showed up........I opened up the boxes and realized right away there were some issues......So, I started measuring things.......what the heck is going on here.........I could tell by looking that the locating dia on the E-Brake shoe mounting plate that bolts to the axle flange was smaller than the dia on the axle flange on the housing ( The dia that originally located the drum brake backing plate)........as I measured it seems the new plate had a 2.718 bore thru it........The dia on the axle housing was 3.438........That's when I remembered the comment about the bigger bearings, hence the larger dia...........Damm.....Here we go again.......That housing must be a heavy duty unit from a station wagon or something.........Darn.....Here we go again......Talked to the Tech at Wilwood and he was just as confused as I was..........Anyone know anything about these rear ends ??????

If you are looking for another rear, Desert Valley Auto Parts near us has several 65-66 big cars that still have 12 bolts in them. At least they did last time we were there. Just saying.
