The earliest Motion hoods I have seen from actual cars (from old photos)was made via "Chopper gun" i.e.e sprayed fiberglass and the underside of the hood was very rough like the backside of a new fiberglass bath tub.

The red hood (Cook dw) in the above photos is a prime example of a very early hood made via chopper gun

Later most companies started to mold the underside smooth as most are today.
