The Goodyear Custom Tread is the "Steel Belted Radial". Uniroyal, Firestone, and Goodyear all used the same tread that GM dictated to the tire suppliers. The GR70-15 Custom Tread is the one that is currently reproduced in white letter and 3/8" white stripe. GR70-15 fitment was on the Trans Am, Can Am, Buick GS, some 442's.... HR70-15's were probably on big cars/station wagons.

The Uniroyal GR70x15 was one of the 1973 Trans Am radials if you wanted white stripes. If this is an actual Uniroyal as Verne said, I am wondering what Uniroyal called it on the sidewall. Here's an example. And yes as you mention, that tread looks just like the infamous Firestone 500 tread on my 73 SD.
