Back in the day a lot of folks ran the #163 on oval port motors...no issues, you just need to use the correct gaskets. Seems like it should work ok with your setup...give it a try and see how it runs.
That thing will need some good rubber and suspension to prevent sub-orbital flights

I agree with Wilma, the 198/163 intake WITH the spacer will be fine with that. You won't lose any power at all.
Also, I would get an old mech fuel pump and just run it straight through to give it the look of the stock pump. I would run a holley RED pump since it doesn't need the reg, and at 97 GPH, it should feed that 502 fine as well.

I think I'll just throw a regulator and gauge on it instead of buying another pump. I'm planning on throwing a mech fuel pump for looks. We'll see how it looks with the air gap intake first. Might be a moot point... I ordered an intake last night. After weighing out all the options, I settled on the Chevy Performance ZZ572 intake, but I'm still talking to Brodix to see if they might have a better option. Jegs was the only one that had the GM intake in stock that I could find. Everyone else had ship dates a month out. It's a rectangle port, single plane, air gap. So much for the day two look, but I think this will be the right intake for my combination. I ordered the gaskets they recommended for the intake. http://www.jegs.com/i/Chevrolet-Perf...61161/10002/-1 ![]()

Not sure I would have bought that intake! I think with your combo only making 540Hp, that might be a bit of a lose with the intake, and if you're going to get the correct aftermarket intake, get the oval port as it WILL work better all things considered.
I probably would have went with the original intake you got, blasted it back to raw aluminum, and ground of the name. BUT we also didn't get cam specs either. I made about more than 220+Hp more with my 198 OEM ported dual plane on my 475 then what your motor is making! So you know you can make lots of power with a dual plane.

I'm not sure you understand what I'm really trying to accomplish. I currently have an Edelbrock Performer with spacers for an intake. Not ideal. I would need a slip collar dizzy to make it work also. Waste of money IMO. If you can find a single Oval Port intake for a tall deck block for less than a pound of flesh, I'm all ears. I can't find a single one. They are all rectangle ports and this is what appears to be my best option. Most of the others are purpose built for Dart & Brodix heads etc. In the end, I'm not really worried about gaining anymore HP/Tq right now. If I tried to use what this one will put out in it's current form, my stock 12 bolt will wheel hop itself to death. Don't misunderstand me. I appreciate all the comments and opinions. I just want to make sure we're on the same sheet of music.
