AND star lock washers are just fine -- but they need to engage the bolt head and in this case it appears they do not ... the lock portion extends further out from the surface of the bolt.

Reminds me of something Alan Sheppard, the astronaut, said in an interview when asked what he was thinking in the seconds before rocketing into space: &quot;That every single part on the vehicle was provided by the lowest bidder.&quot;

Isn't that the damn truth -- I've flown way too many miles in aircraft &quot;made by the lowest bidder&quot; but am still able to remember and have survived.
