I have a 68 Nova that shows to be a an original 6 cyl car,and in its current state is a 6cyl 3 sped manual car
The Vin plate on dash starts 11327 as it should for a 6 cyl car Yet the firewall tag starts with a 11427 which shows it to be a v8 car? What gives??? Is this normal and possible? Thanks Nick

Nick, I don't know about Novas but for 1969 chevelles it is the same way for some of the assembly plants. It is always good to check the VIN when considering a car not just the body tag due to this example. The reason may have been due to a body being built and placed in the body bank awaiting an order or assembly, then when the order came in the engine requested was the 6 cylinder vs the V8, the Fisher guys wouldn't know and likely wouldn't care what engine was going into it they were just making the body and sending them to the final line. hope this helps, there may be a much better explanation but that's what I know from my research on chevelles. take care, Andy

Marlin is correct. All trim tags on 68s will read 427. VIN designation gives the V8 6 or 4 cyl nbr. 427 v8 327 6 227 4 cyl. Nothing on either tags will give a cubic inch size.

If you're going to try to be "correct" for 68, there are many one year pieces and differences on a 68. Research 1st.

How about some photos in the 'as is' condition.
A 68 BB is a cool project
