The rods would have been numbered from the factory,and as far as I know,the LS-7 was sold as a short block with no tin,so non GM gaskets would be the norm. Guys still have them out there brand new for under 3 grand,my friend just bought an brand new LS-7 short block still in the cosmoline for $1900. That was a 1985 engine. Until you fix it,it isn't worth any more then the sum of the parts. Nothing from a 1972 LS-7 has any numbers matching relationship to a rare or value able car. If you fix it and get it to the point where it can be a good running long block,it might be worth $2500 as a used engine.
