Yes, the trailer will sit outside so a rounded roof is desired. I like the idea of a roof vent though to help pull the hot air out of it in the pits. Hope the seal is a good one. I plan to put down an area of crushed stone to park it on. I'm hoping that will be a lot better than parking right over the ground. And a spare tire is a "must have".

I moved my trailer from Massachusetts to Michigan. The original vent broke when I was cleaning snow off the roof, not because of the weight of 3' of snow. I bought the Maxxair and I leave the "stock" vent wide open for air circulation. It's been open for a year now under HEAVY winds and quite a bit of snow last year. No problems at all and not a drop of water got in. The roof is a one piece curved top.
I like that ramp threshold. I'm going to do something like that with mine. No way on the stainless ramp though. I like my bones in one piece. I'm not as agile as I once was.

My 2004 Pace Shadow GT (Top of the Line) 20'10K GVW has the Glued On Side Skin (NO screwed fasteners)

Up near the top there are small areas of rust. Ive been told this is because steel frame that outside skin is glued too
wasnt painted and my skin is rusting from inside out

1) Anybody else know what I'm trying to point out

2) Anybody have a solution or "fix"

3) NO, Im not going to remove outside skin at this time

Thanks for your helpful suggestions

Chuck, My neighbor had a similar issue with his trailer. The siding delaminated. The manufacturer picked it up, put on an entire new side and delivered it back. I think your issue should also be corrected by Pace. My neighbor's trailer was also out of warranty but they still fixed it. It's worth a try.

Verne, My trailer was mfg in 2004 I think and surely out of any warranty ?????

I heard that PACE AMERICAN went out of business !!!!!!

The outside skin is fine where it is overlapped and bonded/glued.
My problem is very small RUST pockets that appear to be coming from backside.
Hard to explain........so I suppose I need to take pics and get them online!!!!!

Chuck,
I just had an email today from a local dealer who said they could price a new Pace for me. Look at the Pace web site and the Cargo Express web site and notice the similarity in the layout and the specs. I think they are either owned by the same parent company or they merged.
I understand your description of the problem. A seal at the top must have let water in. Maybe you can just repair the visible rust and re-caulk the upper trim.

Verne

The screwless siding may look high class, but I trust screws more than glue. IF I order a new one, I'll just ask for SS screws.

May I add that I changed my Pace American (see post above) from D to E Rated TOWMAX Tires that have a max inflated 80# PSI.

A very large western Tire Retailer Les Schwab claims to have had little come back with the TOWMAX brand.

I will admit that my trailer hasnt been used much and I cant personally vouch for the above tires

I have screwless Featherlite and a another and no problems. I would do screwless as the 3m glue is probably stronger than the screws.
