Default Re: 1949 Chevrolet 3100 - V8 Prototype

Alrighty, so a few set back and a few advancements. Wiring complete: Key on and a crank for starting {pop} {CLUNK}. Hmmmmmmmmm...mmmhmmm. This just all worked last week, I touched nothing, then come back a few days later and I'm greeted to a bowl of Rice Krispies (snap, crackle and pop). Oh, let me try this (wiggle, wiggle, tighten, loosen)...{pop} {CLUNK}. Hmmmmmmmm.....Well, that wasn't it. Oh, silly me, it was this thing right here. Let me get in here..and...(wiggle, loosen, tighten, kick)....{click, click} {POP} [CLUNK}. Well, that's all I know how to do, time to go home. So as tribute to Patton, I regrouped, pulled out what little knowledge I keep in my electrical encyclopedia, and then had another go at it. The result? SUCCESS!!! {VRRROOOMM!!!!!) As simple as it sounds, it was the addition of two more chassis/frame/engine ground wires that caused all the issues. I blame this squarely on M22Mike. Why I don't know, but I'm of the generation that it's never my fault and I have to blame someone, so it's on him! But then Lake Superior started to form on the intake manifold at the front two water jackets. So with that, A new direction for the engine: Power Pack time! I ordered an Edelbrock and matching Performer intake to remedy this leak. I pulled the intake and found two hairline cracks on both the front water jacket ports. Not sure how they got there, but no matter. After detailing up the new parts, the engine was back together and running good with no leaks! I made it look like an older Carter carb and now that's it's a 4bbl, it'll be a Power Pack optioned truck! Since I have a 700R4 in there, this provides a nice place to mount the TV cable as well. Something I was still pondering with the older intake. The heater hoses will be fastened with a few backets (the zip ties are just temporary right now). I think it all still ties in nicely. I removed the electric choke and will add the manual choke lever that routes to the dash, and then wrap the harness up. Time for some bodywork...
