The biggest thing with metallics is the air pressure. You can change the color by adjusting the air pressure, and today's metallics versus then is very different. Spray gun technology is so much advanced over the guns used back then. They did not have HVLP spray guns back then either. And even with todays technology GM still can't get paint on the bottom of P/U tailgates and hinges.
