Yea an arbor press is always handy to have although rarely used. I bought mine brand new for around $125 I think iv used it a hand full of times but my friends and family are always asking to use it. My first set of control arm bushing were burnt out then crush the casing as already suggested. Make sure to do it in the driveway that rubber really stinks. Lol

I had a great Muscle car day yesterday:-)

Popped out a couple more bushings, just used a press with a cup under the control arm, two slices of pipe to prevent the arm from collapsing, and a turned down shaft to push out the bushings:-)

I visited Teff-Line in Burlington they do dry media blasting (no sand) in huge blasting rooms, they also do liquid paint coatings, and dry coatings. They have nice big ovens for powder coating. I was impressed with the facility. It is not a show factory due to the dirtiness of the blasting area, but the rep had good knowledge and seemed to understand the results I am after. After I complete the final control arm bushing removal I will send pictures of the black items all side by side and all the grey items side by side so he can give an accurate price. I have a detailed list of items but I need to confirm with an Olds expert which parts should be black and which should be grey.

Then I stopped at Antique Chevrolet Parts and had a few items quoted. (I didn't even know this place had moved from Oakville to outside Cambridge)

Then I visited Dave (Northerforce) he donated trailing arms to my restoration project:-) Just to top off his Canadianism, he had AC Delco spark plug tools for myself and for Jamie:-) How cool is that?

Then after that I called Nick Morocco on the way home to chat shifters, he has the trans wrapped up and we are close to deciding on the shifter, I think we will use one of his Hurst Competition Plus shifters to get going and "see how it feels" Kind of a Demo:-)

This got me thinking about pressure plates and clutches again, so I got out one of the pressure plates Al gave me, a Borg and Beck three finger style, I could barely press one of the fingers down by standing on it:-) Should be great in traffic:-) I have yet to remove the bellhousing off the extra engine to see what clutch, pressure plate, flywheel are inside:-) (Need to find out soon)

I have clutch on the brain, I priced out a few and nearly choked.

So I though..... what did Al and his daughter put on the engine that they bought to get the car going again? I hadn't pulled the bell-housing off till tonight. BINGO!!

Good clutches aren't cheap but if you plan to race it spend the money and get one that will hold and last..

I agree 100%

I would definitely send in your flywheel to your engine builder and have it resurfaced. Use all new hardware.

This clutch will be perfect for my goal of getting the. Ar back on the road in a very street friendly drivers in combo.

I will have the flywheel dressed during the engine rebuild, and all new fasteners for sure.

I think a bronze pilot bushing is better that the bearing I see in both cranks.

Need to check and restore the fork, and bell housing.

What a nice surprise:-)
