looks very 'fresh' to me... but yes, let the experts chime in....

maybe someone has a pic of a similar stamped motor as reference??

69 L78 codes are JL and JH, and KC was reserved for the dual disc clutch as mentioned, it is believed none were produced in a Camaro.
There was a very early 69 BBC Camaro in the Vintage certification area 2 years ago at the MCACN. The pad on that car was stamped KC, maybe ordered with that clutch and never came to be. Eddie, me and others looked at the stamp and to me it looked real.
As far as this one, I agree with Charlie and Lynn on the pad. It is hard to tell from one photo with the glare, but it is very clean and to shiny, also when I blow this picture up some of the broach lines extend into some of the characters.
I am sure Kurt will eventually comment here.
