FYI, in 1971 and 1972 the only four-speed available in the Trans Am (which only came with a 455HO) was the M22. So, if it's the original trans from a 71 T/A and judging by the VIN, it is, that would be an M22 not an M20. Just thought you might like to know. Interesting. the date code should have a "C" at the end. Not an "A" Dec 18 1971 date code.
