Default Re: I'VE HAD IT WITH PEOPLE AT CAR CRUISES

Kinda makes me glad I will never get a car together to take to a show . Maybe someday? I have an old jalopy Model A I took to our town's antique tractor/machinery show. You would not believe how many people let their kids jump on the running boards and others just helped themselves to opening the doors. One guy even took it out of gear (it was on a hill mind you). Next time, if there is a next time, I am sitting with a baseball bat and a gun on my lap. Treating others goes both ways, and that means not touching what is not yours and asking first before you do (that goes for cones too). I can understand wanting to sit with buddies and they want to be close to their car, I can also understand if saving spots is an agreed known activity. It seemed 'that guy' Rich confronted had two sets of standards by not offering up his own saved spot. I would also meet up at another location with friends and arrive together (of course, someone always has to work late or lives far and this can cause an exception where I would appreciate a saved spot, if this were the case). Oh yea, here is my "Jalopy"fyi

I have pretty much given up on the car show scene...especially if it involves a long travel time to get there. We have one local ice cream/snack shop [O'Kennys] that probably does the best job of all of them. The people are friendly and fun to be around. The parking is first come first serve...they do a wagon ride for the kids...the guy has a mini car museum and the food is fast and good.

My only real complaint about car shows is the endless stream of show flyers that folks try to put on or in your ride. These should be handed out collectively to each entrant as they arrive...this is the professional and considerate way to spread the word. Having your 9 year old run from car to car with a handful of photo copy flyers is just not acceptable.

Wilma

I agree with Wilma, don't have the patience to deal with car show jail these days. I guess some people see it as a major necessity but it is just not that important to me anymore, driving the cars and talking to the people is the thrill for me. How many people have had this lovely experience of "saving spots" on Southwest Airlines.? Same reason I will never fly SW again
