Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Please explain that one?

I have a couple cars with sequential fisher body numbers that are also very similar with regard to options. The cars are 25 VIN units apart.

I have not done any in depth research on the topic, but it seems fisher body organized their body production by body style and options. So similarly optioned big block convertibles, Z28s or yenko camaros for example would have probably been grouped into a batch, therefore having similar or sequential body numbers.

The vin numbers were probably assigned on a "first come first served" basis. Since the body's were produced close in time, their VIN would be close as well, but not necessarily sequential

Just my hypothesis...

What is known as the 'body number' was generated when Central Office confirmed the dealer order. It had nothing to do with production scheduling. Fisher built to Chevrolet's schedule, not theirs. The Gibb ZL1s were ordered/confirmed at the same time and aren't even close to being built in body number sequence. The first Gibb ZL1 ordered, 222001, was #14 final-assembled on or about March 6, 1969. The first ZL1 built 222002 was final assembled December 30, 1968. Neither is the first ZL1 Camaro ordered-that's #3 211785.

Yenkos are the same-the groups were ordered/confirmed at the same time but not built in order # sequence.
