Was the axle original when you found it? Too early for a 4P tag. That tag looks funky.

Was the axle original when you found it? Too early for a 4P tag. That tag looks funky. </div></div> I agree, if I saw that on an auction floor I would think a jeweller or someone semi-skilled with a TIG tried to put tiny, tiny pieces in it.

This car was a nothing car as found, who knows what happened to the trim tag. With a state assigned vin anything is possible. I don't see why anyone would have cared about the tag in as found condition, it was not an expensive car. I am an experienced tig welder. It would be almost impossible to weld the thin aluminum of a trim tag with a tig welder without burning through it.
