I think the car was done in Clinton IA. They are good folks. To the best of my knowledge, they've never worked on any Yenko cars before. I would guess they built the car to the owners directions. It's not really their job to verify it's legitimacy. They were hired to hang sheet metal, and put on the paint.
No previous owner, or people who had info on the car to my knowledge claimed it was a conversion as it's my understanding they never saw any docs to conclusively prove a conversion ever happened. While we all tend to shake our collective heads about this, there seems to be a certain segment of wealthy people who buy these cars without caring about the proper pedigree. And amazingly, they seem to then garner more money later on. Example: Blk L89 70 Nova, silver re bodied Yenko deuce. As in politics, seems if you repeat it enough times, folks begin to believe it's the truth. I had a conversation with a gentleman who knew this car well. He felt, and I agreed with him, that the seller would do well. Some people out there really don't much care much about the facts, or what we all think. FWIW |

If it was restored as an early conversion. I think it would have a small block fan shroud and heater core. Also the motor looks to be sitting back too far the fan blade is not covered at all by the fan shroud.

Having a car on that list proves somethings, but not by it self that it is a 427 Conversion.
