Many auction houses bid up near the reserve. They by law have to disclose that in the auction info. They have hundreds of cars to get thru. You might have a 100K reserve on a car and one guy bids 10K. It has the potential to waste alot of time and the auctioneer knows they are 90K away from reserve so they bid it up quickly to where they think they can put buyer and seller within deal territory. You might see a car bid up fast and die fast but it is because the auctioneer knows there is no real money.
