Default Vintage pics of muscle cars-post yours up here!!

My neighbor comes by a couple of years ago and says he has a 1967 Charger he bought Brand new in the fall of 1966, it's been sitting in his Father's Garage since 1979, and has not been touched since then.

He explains his father had passed away 6 months prior and he needs to get rid of the car because they are selling the house. So my mind is wandering is it a Hemi? A 440? or maybe a 383? I have it towed to my shop and when it shows up, it's a 318 2BBLwith Factory A/C and Cruise Control! No disrespect intended, but who buys a 1967 Dodge Charger and gets a 318 2BBL with A/C & Cruise control?

I didn't even know that Dodge offered Factory Cruise control on a 1967 Charger.
He said the other engine options got way too bad of gas mileage (gas was .39 cents a gallon then). It was so stinky and rusty, I listed it on Craigslist and a broker from POLAND bought it in the first 15 minutes of the add going live for $6500.00. I'm told it's overseas getting restored. You would be upside down in no time doing a frame off on this car. It takes all kinds I guess.

Bill

Post #244 on page 25 shows 2 of my 3 69 Camaros. I still have those 2. Here are 2 of the 3 67 Chevelles I had. The blue one is what started it all, you could say. I was 16 in the winter of 77. In the background is the 69 Cutlass 6 cylinder dad bought for me to drive. NO V8, he said. That summer I got a job working in a Firestone tire store. That is where I, to use dad's words, ruined that Cutlass. I bought air shocks, painted the rear end yellow, put a bald set of 60 series and rims that a customer took off their hippie van and didn't want. I cut off the new Midas exhaust because the car was not loud. Too many neutral dumps broke the Super Turbine 300 trans. Some guys down at the corner garage got in a 66 GTO that had been T-boned hard. I was making a deal to buy the 389 tri power and TH400 to put in the Cutlass. Dad found out my plans. He promptly had the trans repaired and sold the car. Not to be discouraged, I said to myself, I'll just buy my own car. At the end of summer, here is what I drug home without consulting my folks. The Robin Egg Blue Cutlass is in the background. I dearly loved that SS 396 4 speed Chevelle. Dad sent me off to military school as payment for my purchase. After graduating Military school, the flamed SS396 Camaro was bought, then, another Chevelle, maroon in color.
Oh, one last thing. My "Hippie Belt" was a real deal left by some hippies in one of dad's rental properties. And the big parking area, we had a 72 acre farm. I was a real backward sheltered country boy.

rest of pics. 1st pic is the day I brought the Camaro home. Early fall 79. Yes, I have owned this car 40 years. I also bought a Blue SS 350 Camaro just prior to this and sold it this past summer. I came to the realization, I would never restore another car. Period. So, time to let go of some dreams. Bought the Maroon Chevelle in 81. Nicest Chevelle I had. Sold it in the spring to a buddy in 82 ‘cause I was getting married. And I did, now, 37th year. My buddy still has the Chevelle.

A picture of my 67 SS396 I ordered right out of high school. It is equipped with snow tires, the tires may even have ice studs. It was my only car so it got driven year around. We used to get drunk & go out on the highway & do burnouts, the studs would actually leave gouges in the blacktop. Used to do a lot of street racing, won a few lost a few but always had a great time. It was Plum Mist Metallic, black vinyl top, 396/ 350hp, 4 speed,
black SS interior. I traded it in with 28k mi, the salesman was astounded it had so many miles on it. He would have died if he knew I had the speedo disconnected most of the time.

heres a few pics of my old 69 nova SS396. I bought this from the original owner back in the 80's who said he put the flame paint job on it right after he bought it. other than that it was very original and low mileage. I thought it was strange he would put the flames on it and not change out the wheels. I had it for a few years and ended up selling it to a doctor in Washington state. never seen or heard of it again. I took these pics the day after I bought it you can see its still sitting on my trailer.

Dad in 1969 with his 426 4 speed 1965 Sport Fury. His cousin owned it before him and put max wedge heads on it and 4.56 gears. I think they used the stock intake and carb so it probably wasn't the upgrade that they thought it was.

This was taken late 1971. I recently sold this car. In this pic it had just been purchased by Ronnie Staples from the Wheatley brothers. It was a 70 that never turned a tire on the street since brand new.

Racing Pro Stock in mid 1972 at Suffolk raceway.

When it was brand new.
In about 1976,fresh out of SRD race cars. This is the 4th owner.

A little earlier running gas with the slotted mags still on it. The first owner used a Mopar Super Stock kit in the rear with a Dana 60 so at this point the car had Mopar springs and a pinion snubber still in it.

When I bought it in about 2012. I had zero history on the car other than that everyone called it "The Jenkins Car".

When I got it it had 1981 style bumper and tail lights. Luckily they didn't hack it much. I had to replace the upper half of the tail panel and the corners of the quarters. The white paint that is on it here was from the mid 70's,they did the body mods without repainting the car.
