My guess is Chevrolet Impala SS prototype emblem from late 1950's. Looks the part and the cross flags were just coming into favor.

Too early for the &quot;SS&quot; designation. The first &quot;super&quot; nomenclature I know of from Chevy began with a '58 Chevy and a &quot;Super Turbo Thrust&quot; 348 motor. Perhaps they were thinking of designating that on the fender? Chevy always liked to have something unique on the fender or the hood badge to designate a 6 from a 283 or a W motor.
