Rattle can materials often times will come off with some wax & grease remover. A little stronger stuff, an acquaintance of mine had a car that was stolen and recovered several months later that had been sprayed with black primer and he used lacquer thinner to get it off of the entire car. It needed a buffing and waxing after that, but all in all, not bad. Could have been disastrous though.
